  Domain Name: SAKS1_UBX
SAKS1-like UBX domain. SAKS1 (SAPK-substrate-1), also known as Y33K, is a widely expressed protein containing N-terminal UBA (ubiquitin-associated) and C-terminal UBX (ubiqiutin-like) domains that was identified as a substrate of stress-activated protein kinases (SAPKs). SAKS1 is related evolutionarily to two other UBA/UBX-containing proteins, p47 and Faf1. The UBA and UBX domains of SAKS1 bind ubiquitin tetramers and valosin-containing protein (VCP), respectively suggesting a role for SAKS1 as an adaptor that directs VCP to polyubiquitinated proteins facilitating its destruction by the proteasome. The UBX domain has a beta-grasp fold similar to that of ubiquitin however, UBX lacks the c-terminal double glycine motif and is thus unlikely to be conjugated to other proteins.
No pairwise interactions are available for this conserved domain.

Tips:
If you've navigated here from a protein, hovering over a position on the weblogo will display the corresponding protein position for that domain position.

The histograms below the weblogo indicate mutations found on the domain. Red is for disease (OMIM) and blue is for SNPs.

Functional Features are displayed as orange boxes under the histograms. You can choose which features are displayed in the box below.
