  Domain Name: ALDH_KGSADH
Alpha-Ketoglutaric Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase. Alpha-Ketoglutaric Semialdehyde (KGSA) Dehydrogenase (KGSADH, EC catalyzes the NAD(P)+-dependent conversion of KGSA to alpha-ketoglutarate. This CD contains such sequences as those seen in Azospirillum brasilense, KGSADH-II (D-glucarate/D-galactarate-inducible) and KGSADH-III (hydroxy-L-proline-inducible). Both show similar high substrate specificity for KGSA and different coenzyme specificity; KGSADH-II is NAD+-dependent and KGSADH-III is NADP+-dependent. Also included in this CD is the NADP(+)-dependent aldehyde dehydrogenase from Vibrio harveyi which catalyzes the oxidation of long-chain aliphatic aldehydes to acids.
No pairwise interactions are available for this conserved domain.

Total Mutations Found: 33
Total Disease Mutations Found: 17
This domain occurred 12 times on human genes (19 proteins).

If you've navigated here from a protein, hovering over a position on the weblogo will display the corresponding protein position for that domain position.

The histograms below the weblogo indicate mutations found on the domain. Red is for disease (OMIM) and blue is for SNPs.

Functional Features are displayed as orange boxes under the histograms. You can choose which features are displayed in the box below.
